I have been ...I do not like the law of expungement. I have been convicted of Robbery 1 w/firearm back in 92and then in 97 a couple of misdemeanors for forgery 2 and attempted theft 3. I ended up doing 23 months in prison and I was released in 1998. I found out that I didn't have the same mentality as the other inmates and that I wanted a future. Quickly after release I landed a job and I followed through with my supervision and even had it dismissed early. I have lived life by the book and the most important things to me are my family and freedom. However, I am now having trouble finding rentals that will accept me for a crime on my record from 1992. Four years ago I could rent at some different places but now everyone that I have looked at so far has flat out said no. I am no threat to the community! I live a clean and honest life. Jobs are coming to be the same way. Luckily I have an ok job so I am not worried about that. However I am worried about where I am gonna live this summer. My Felony with the gun charge sticks with me yet I didn't have anything to do with a gun. I was just a driver in the crime. The problem with our judicial system is there are just blanket coverages about who can, and who can't have their records expunged or sealed from the public. It should be a case by case review. It should depend on the individual. No blanket rejections. It seems like discrimination to me.

Sincerely,
Frustrated in AlohaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
